Pool Rentals
  Sierra Pool and the Splash Pool are available to rent for Birthday Parties,
Family Reunions, Company Parties, and Neighborhood Parties. This summer
we have Friday night specials. When you sign up to rent the pool on these
nights you will receive a discount of $50. For all rentals plan ahead and
book early, these slots go fast!

PRIVATE
SWIMMING LESSONS
 The Auburn Recreation Department offers private swimming lessons for children
and adults who desire more individual attention. Lessons are scheduled
in four ½ hour blocks. Private lessons are available Monday through Thursday
9:00-10:30am, 12:00-12:30pm, and 5:30-6:00pm. Available dates are June
14 through August 6. Beginning the week of August 9th, private lessons will
be available 3:30-5:30 through August 26. Private lessons for special needs
children are available on a limited basis. Please contact Patti Waskowiak to

PARENT TOT SWIMMING LESSONS
6 mos. to 3 yrs.
A parent must accompany the child in the pool. This class is intended for the
first time swimmers who want a gentle, fun introduction to the water. It's
great if they haven't been in the pool since last summer too!

GROUP
SWIMMING SESSIONS - Ages 3+
Ages 3+
In an effort to individualize swim instruction, on the first day of each session
the swimmers will be be tested and placed in classes with age and ability
appropiate peers. As students master the skills, they will be moved to the
next challenging class. At the end of the session parents will be apprised of
the progress their swimmer has made and will receive recommendation for
the next step in swimming for their child.

LIFEGUARDING
 15+
This is the certification most pools require before employing a lifeguard.
Course includes training and certification in life guarding, community first
aid, CPR for the professional rescuer and Title 22 (EMSA). Lifeguard and first
aid certification is good for 3 years; CPR is good for 1 year. Hurry, this is a
popular class and will fill up quickly.

RObAlOs COMpETITIvE
sWIM TEAM - Ages 5-18

Robalos Swimming is for boys and girls ages 5 to 18. Swimmers must be
able to swim unaided one length of the pool performing three of the four
competitive strokes. Swimmers practice Monday through Thursday. Meets
are held Saturday morning beginning in June. For swimmers unable to
meet the swimming requirements we have a Junior Robalos program. A
Junior Robalo is a swimmer 8 years or younger. In order to qualify for Junior
Robalos the swimmer must complete one length of the pool unassisted.
Swimmers must be registered for the team and practice with the Junior
Robalos. Practice consists of 40 minutes to an hour of workout that combines
small group instruction in the bulkhead followed by lap swim in the main
pool. In meets Junior Robalos will only swim events in which they have a
legal stroke as determined by a head coach.
Mentoring Junior Robalos will be the role of the teenage swimmers. Each
swimmer will be matched up with a big brother or sister who will help make
sure they get to their events on meet day. The juniors will be available to be
chief cheerleaders and towel holders during the teen swimmer’s events.
Other activities will be scheduled to foster this special relationship throughout
the summer.

MERMAIDs syNCHRONIzED
sWIM TEAM Ages 5-18
The Mermaid synchronized swim team has a long tradition here in the
foothills. Synchronized swimming combines elements of swimming and
ballet into routines set to music. Practices are held in the evenings Monday
through Thursday. Meets are held Wednesday evenings beginning in June
and the league finals will be right here in Auburn July 18-19. New swimmers
are encouraged to join. A non-refundable tryout fee of $25 gives new
swimmers a two week tryout period. If the swimmer makes the team, this
fee is applied to the Mermaids fee.

Water Aerobics - Ages
15+ with waiver
 In the pool heated to 80 degrees come enjoy the low impact exercise of
Water Aerobics. While the water helps hold you up it also offers gentle
resistance as you work through your program.

 The Auburn Recreation District will operate the Sierra and Splash Pools this
summer. They are open to the public according to the schedule below.
Watch the bulletin board and/or website to determine unusual closings; we
have listed the ones we know of prior to this publication. Dollar Days are
here and Family Nights are back; everyone attending gets in to the pool for
just $1. Swimmers 6 years and under must be accompanied by a swimming
parent. Come check out our beautiful remodeled locker rooms.
