PUBLIC SWIM
Auburn Recreation District operates the Sierra Pool in Auburn as well as Placer Hills Pool in Meadow Vista. The pools are open to the public according to the schedule below. There will be times that the pool will be closed or the schedules may be changed. We have listed in the activity guide changes that we know prior to publication. Check postings at the pool and/or at www.auburnrec.com for any other changes. Swim passes are good for both pools.

ALL PERSONS ENTERING THE POOL MUST PAY THE FEE - swimming or non-swimming. All swimmers 6 years of age and younger must be accompanied in the water by a swimming parent or guardian.

MASTERS SWIMMING
 Masters swimming is for adults to receive instruction on their strokes, get a coached workout and start the day swimming. Information on Open Water Swims around Northern California will be available. This is a great workout for individuals participating in Triathlon events. Masters meets three mornings a week.

SWIMMING LESSONS
PRIVATE SWIMMING LESSONS
The Auburn Recreation District offers private swimming lessons for children and adults who desire more individual attention. Private lessons are available both at the Sierra Pool and at Placer Hills Pool. Lessons are scheduled in four ½ hour blocks. Available dates are June 4 through August 2. PARENT TOT SWIMMING LESSONS
A parent must accompany the child in the pool. This class is intended for the first time swimmer who wants a gentle, fun introduction to the water. This is a great reintroduction if they have not been in the pool since last summer.

SWIMMING LESSONS
To best serve all members of the community you will need to sign up for the session and time slot you desire. On the first day of each session the swimmers will be tested and placed in classes with age and ability appropriate peers. As students master skills they will be introduced to the next natural progression.

MERMAID SYNCHRONIZED SWIMMING
The Mermaid synchronized swim team has a long tradition here in the foothills. Synchronized swimming combines the grace of dancers, the coordination and flexibility of gymnasts, the spirit of cheerleading, and the strength of water polo players into one beautiful and powerful sport. Personal confidence and self - esteem are nurtured on a team where the individual efforts are positively reinforced by team members and staff.
Practices are held in the evenings Monday through Friday. Meets are held weeknight evenings beginning in June and the league finals will be held in mid-July. New swimmers of all ages (5-18) are encouraged to join. The water show at the conclusion of the season will feature all the swimmers on the team. A non-refundable trial fee of $25 gives new swimmers a two - week try-out period. If the swimmer makes the team, this fee is applied to the Mermaids fee. Parents must provide a separate volunteer check of $125 made out to Mermaids on the first night of practice.

Junior Mermaids
Junior Mermaids is the training ground for future Mermaids. Swimmers will learn the basics of synchronized swimming without the pressure of competitive meets. This ten week program will prepare the swimmers for the end of season water show and give them a head start on the next competitive season.

Robalos Swim Team
Robalos Swimming is for boys and girls ages 5 to 18. Swimmers must be able to swim unaided one length of the pool performing three of the four competitive strokes. Swimmers practice Monday through Thursday. Additional fun family/swimmer activities will be scheduled. Meets are held Saturday morning beginning in June.
For swimmers unable to meet the swimming requirements we have a Junior Robalos program. A Junior Robalo is a swimmer, 8 years or younger. In order to qualify for Junior Robalos the swimmer must complete one length of the pool unassisted. Swimmers must be registered for the team and practice with the Junior Robalos. Practice consists of 40 minutes to an hour of workout that combines small group instruction followed by lap swim in the main pool. In meets Junior Robalos will only swim events in which they have a legal stroke as determined by a head coach.
