EVENTS > THE GREAT AUBURN OBSTACLE RACE > FAQs

1) What are some of the obstacles I will face?

The race is a 5k fun-run and features a myriad of obstacles, including (but not limited to) a maze, tire run, pond crossing in a raft, wall climbs, weighted-sled pull, a creek crossing, over and under and of course a mud pit.

2) Just how muddy is the mud pit?

In a word, muddy. Many folks will get through the mud pit without too much mud on their face, however everyone will come out with the rest of their body well camouflaged in goo.

3) I have never run an obstacle course race. Will I be able to complete your course?

Absolutely. Our course is designed to offer as much fun and exertion as you want. While some people will be racing for time, many others will be running to complete it and have fun with friends.

4) I have run a few obstacle course races in the past and regularly participate in trail runs. Will this course offer me a challenge?

You bet. Our 5k course is mainly on trails and includes a couple of hill climbs, as well as the many obstacles. As referenced above, the course is what you want to make it.

5) I have a 9 year old. What sort of course will she run?

All runners will compete on the same course.

6) Will there be blood?

Scrapes and bruises are possible, but nothing too serious. Some of the obstacles have a certain level of inherent danger, so we ask that everyone is careful and not attempt anything beyond their skill level. We want to make sure everyone is safe when they complete this very fun course.

7) Is there a relay option?

There are no relay options available for this race, however you can sign up and run as a team of 10 (and get a nice discount).

8) Is this Obstacle run timed?

Yes, you will be timed using a chip system. That said, do not feel that you must complete the course in record time. HAVE FUN!

9) What should I bring?

A good attitude, a sense of humor and clothing that can be made muddy and sweaty! It is also suggested to bring a change of clothes or a towel to avoid a muddy ride home.

10) Can I skip an obstacle? While we highly encourage everyone to try each obstacle, we are not going to ask you to attempt something you are not comfortable trying. Once again, we are here to have FUN!
